Big Stage at OMR: 3D animation for the hugo! Charging Lounge

The vision: clean, modern, intuitive

The OMR Festival in Hamburg is the "Coachella" of the marketing scene. It’s loud, it’s colorful, and tens of thousands of visitors are constantly bombarded with visual stimuli. In this environment, hugo!, the young, design-oriented brand from Brennenstuhl, presented its own "Charging Lounge."

The task for colourweekly: We needed to produce visual content for the lounge's massive LED walls and screens. The goal was nothing less than to showcase the hugo! ONE, TRAVEL and SOCKET products in a way that would make stressed trade fair visitors stop, look, and immediately understand: "This isn't just a power strip; it's a design statement."

The execution: design meets function

We didn't just visualize the "look," we also visualized the "understanding." In addition to the animation that ran on a loop on the lounge screens, we created static visuals that explain the specific use case . The animation guides the viewer seamlessly through the product family, highlighting the technical details with a clean Apple-esque look and feel—perfectly matching the innovative vibe of the OMR Festival.

The products in the hugo! range are characterized by a very modern, almost architectural design. To highlight this, we used 3D animations with ultra-smooth easings (camera acceleration and deceleration curves). Nothing feels rushed. The camera glides over the matte surface of the hugo! ONE, pauses briefly at the precise gap dimensions, and then elegantly turns the product into the light to highlight its texture.

The technical setup

Since the content was displayed on large LED walls, we had to render at extremely high resolutions while carefully managing compression artifacts, which often appear on large screens. We optimized contrasts and black levels specifically for the brightness of the trade fair screens. Additionally, we created static images from the same 3D scenes for social media to extend the trade fair communication into the digital space.

The result

The hugo! Charging Lounge was a visual oasis of calm at OMR. Our animations ran on a loop, ensuring visitors stayed longer. The brand successfully shed its image as an "established hardware manufacturer" and positioned itself as a modern tech-lifestyle brand. The combination of clean design and precise motion design proved that even everyday products can be sexy when the lighting and staging are just right.
