Mixed-CGI
CGI and photography combined.

The fusion of reality and 3D

mixedCGI combines photorealistic 3D renderings with real photos or stock images. We place your products into authentic environments. The result is product imagery that looks like traditional photography but is based entirely on CAD data. Designed for marketing and sales teams who need visual assets quickly and cost-effectively.

What defines photorealistic Mixed-CGI

A 3D element only looks real if material surfaces, reflections, shadow gradients, and ambient light are perfectly matched to the original shot. This is built on a foundation of clean CAD data, consistent scaling, and the precise application of physical camera data (focal length, sensor properties) from the original image.

FAQ

What exactly merges in a mixed-CGI project?

With mixed CGI, we seamlessly integrate 100% digitally created 3D models into real photographs or filmed environments. Lighting, camera perspective, and shadows are matched so perfectly to the photo that the human eye cannot tell the difference.

Do you handle the actual photo shoots?

If needed, we work closely with professional photographers, but we can also build perfectly on your existing stock material or previously captured backgrounds. The only important thing is that we know the exact environmental conditions so we can set the digital lighting accordingly.

Do you require specific camera data from the photographer for 3D tracking?

The more metadata (focal length, sensor size, aperture) we have from the original photo, the faster and more accurately our camera matching works. If this EXIF data is unavailable, our 3D artists can mathematically reconstruct the perspective using specialized software by identifying vanishing points in the image.

Can perspectives still be adjusted later on with this process?

Since the background is a static photo, we are limited to the camera perspective captured in that image. We can move, rotate, or adjust the color of your product within the frame, but the overall viewing angle of the room cannot be changed without using a new background image. However, we can use AI-generated environments to create additional backgrounds while maintaining consistent quality.

Is it possible to integrate this into existing stock footage?

Absolutely, we regularly enhance royalty-free stock footage with custom products. It is an extremely efficient way to create high-quality lifestyle settings for campaigns without spending tens of thousands of euros on dedicated location shoots.
